Shangri-La Hotel, Paris
Paris, France
Ever since I began traveling to Paris I had dreamt of visiting the most iconic hotel of the city in my eyes, The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris. When I arrived at the hotel, It was more beautiful in person that I had seen in photos! The property was like something out of a fairytale and I was in awe from the moment I checked in to even right now as I am writing this to all my readers and reminiscing on my time. When I walked through the front doors of the former palace, I was immediately greeted by the most pleasant staff and were eager to help me with any of my needs. The check in process was very discreet, quick and before we knew it, we were being escorted to our little slice of Parisian heaven. Prior to arriving to Paris, I was spending my summer in Nice, France and had my kitten with me for the summer. The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris was kind enough to let me bring Nala with us and the entire staff couldn't have been more caring and attentive with any needs that we had. Even in a palatial setting, the hotel had a warm and homey feel to it. The property was at one time home to Napoleon Bonaparte's grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonoparte and as you may expect it, it is very elegant and beautiful. The hotel is located in the heart of Paris with sweeping views of The Eiffel Tower as well as River Siene. Just around the corner from the hotel, we found some of the best shopping Paris has to offer. It was the perfect location to have such a iconic hotel. The property really had it all, a 1 Michelin star restaurant, a relaxing spa with a indoor pool, and terraces all throughout the space including one in my very own room.
Rooms & Suites:
The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has exactly 100 rooms, 37 of those being suites. I had the pleasure of having a tour of some of the different suite options and each room was a unique in its own way with minimalistic yet luxurious style. Whichever window you looked out of the views were charming. We were very grateful, as our room came with a view of the Eiffel Tower but the rooms with the views of the hotel's garden and courtyard were just as enchanting!
We stayed in the Terrace Eiffel View Room and to be completely honest, it was the most beautiful hotel room I have ever stayed in and from the moment we had walked into it we completely shifted in how we were going to spend the rest of our time in Paris. The room was everything you can dream of including an oversized bedroom and what appeared to be an oversized king sized bed! I swear, my fiancé and I joked the bed alone was so big it was the size of a normal hotel room. We had our own private terrace that stretched from the bedroom to the length of the bathroom and I even had views of the Eiffel Tower from my bath! We spent all of our time on that terrace as it was so ideal and dreamy. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and every evening we ended our night with champagne in the same spot.
The elegant marble bathroom was nothing short of spectacular. There was a massive sinking tub which I have to admit I immediately jumped into and indulged in a hour long bath which was filled with bubbles! The bathroom also had a walk in shower, heated floors and access to the outdoor terrace :)
We recently had gotten engaged and after arriving and seeing just how special the Shangri-La Hotel Paris really was we decided to cancel most of the plans that we had which consisted of spending all day wandering the streets of Paris. We instead decided to sleep in every morning, have breakfast in our room, read books in our oversized bed and enjoy cocktails at Le Terrace Krug. It was the best decision we ever made and it ended up being our favorite visit to Paris.
Experience
Chi, The Spa at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is a place to get away relax, unwind and focus on your well- being. I did not have an opportunity to enjoy a treatment on this visit but I have experienced a spa day at other Chi, The Spa locations located in almost every Shangri-La Hotel and the experience has always been refreshing and invigorating. Chi, The Spa is centered around The Organic Pharmacy which is a beauty brand thats principles are around homepathic medicine and the purest quality ingredients. The Organic Pharmacy is incorporated into the treatments at the Spa. Some of the treatments they do offer are: a Signature Rebalancing Massage, a Jet Lag Rescue Massage and a Green Coffee Body Sculpting Treatment.
Chi, The Spa is located in what were originally the stables of Prince Roland Bonaparte. The space also offers a stunning and tranquil indoor pool with an outdoor terrace attached to it, a fitness facility and a beauty center.
Dining:
The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has 3 different restaurants: L'Abeille, Shang Palace and La Bauhinia, all of which are phenomenal. Le Bar Botaniste is the hotel's luxury nature-inspired bar with a collection of rare botanical spirits. We had the pleasure of having a cocktail in the evening and were so impressed by the exquisite cocktails. At the time of our visit, there was a summer pop-up terrace bar overlooking the Eiffel Tower, Le Terrasse Krug! I had my first glass of Krug Rosé Champagne and it was so refreshing and delightful paired with classic views of Paris.
L'Abeille is a Two Michelin starred French Gastronomy restaurant that has one many prestigious awards and offers a impressive menu and is world known. I unfortunately did not have an opportunity to dine here as it was closed at the time but am looking forward to it during my next trip to Paris!
Shang Palace offers authentic Chinese cuisine and received a Michelin Star as the first Chinese Restaurant in France in 2012! We had lunch here and enjoyed scrumptious Dim Sum that I still crave to this day.
La Bauhinia is restaurant with a unique blend of French and South-East Cuisine. One afternoon, we were treated to a gourmet all Vegan Afternoon High Tea that was out of this world. The lead chef took a green approach and nailed it with all the delectable morsels. My absolute favorite was The Signature Triple Honey Mousse cake topped with pollen. It tasted like perfection.
Overall, my stay at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris was nothing short of perfect. It was luxurious and felt homey. The staff was exceptional, reliable and very friendly. The activities and food were delightful and at the end of the day, all I wanted to do during my time in Paris was be back in the comfort of my hotel room overlooking the most iconic view in the world! I hope to be back one day :)
I did go for a Parisian stroll one day and went to the Galleries Lafayette one afternoon, you can see the image below.
